#endtrafficking

Listen. Learn. Pray. Speak. Act.

River Church Family’s mission of restoring our broken lives means that we acknowledge that we all have brokenness and we need Jesus to bring healing and restoration to our hearts. One of our values that supports this mission is being people of Unexpected Authenticity, tackling hard conversations and being willing to engage in transparent relationships. We are so grateful for the way Katie Holman boldly shared her testimony on Sunday, July 26, and we know that her honest communication has brought light to darkness in powerful ways. If you missed her story, we would encourage you to watch the video here

We are also committed to Unreserved Empowerment, striving for intentional growth in every area of our lives. 1 Cor 10:13 says “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” With that in mind, below are some steps that can help if you or someone you know is struggling with sexual sin or addiction.

  • Confession – Confess your struggles to a trusted individual (preferably a spouse, mentor or leader of the same gender).  It’s scary, but you’ve got to expose it to the light.

  • Accountability – It’s too easy to hide. Have someone on your team, who you can be honest with, checking in on you regularly.

  • Boundaries – Create safeguards in your life. Web blockers/app blockers such as Covenant Eyes for computers and phones. TV/movie filters like VidAngel

  • Editing – Delete apps, social media influencers, or anything that causes you to stumble. This also includes being conscious of limiting negative influences from unhealthy relationships.

  • Counseling – Ongoing, professional support can help to break patterns and cycles, as well as uncover underlying motivations.  Great Oaks Therapy may offer discounted services if you let them know River Church Family referred you. hello@greatoakstherapy.com, 816-200-7266

  • The following ministries, websites and social media accounts are worthwhile for anyone to follow in order to understand the impact of sexual sins and resources to overcome them.

  • The following resources help to support the fight against trafficking.
