FAQ

What can I expect on a Sunday?

Our Sunday morning services typically include teaching, singing, time for discussion, ministry, and prayer. However, each Sunday might vary in what takes place and how long we spend on each portion. Some people wear jeans and t-shirts while others wear dress slacks or dresses. It’s whatever is comfortable for you.

What about the kids/youth?

On Sunday mornings we have Kid’s Church for children ages 0-12 which meets during the same time as the adult service. We also offer a Wednesday night discipleship program during the school year. Stop by the Nursery area located near the front entrance to learn more about our programs. To learn more, visit our NextGen Ministries Page.

We have youth programs for middle school and high school that meet during the week. To learn more, visit our NextGen Ministries Page.

Do I have to give money?

This is an area we like for you to explore on your own with the Lord. Giving money to God’s work here on the earth is one of many ways we worship him and give him Lordship over our lives. Tithing (giving at least 10% of our income) is a biblical teaching that we encourage each person to explore for themselves because scripture tells us that God loves a “cheerful giver” not someone who gives because they feel they “have to” (2 Corinthians 9:6-15).

Do I have to be a member?

Becoming a church member is not required to be a part of our fellowship, small groups or even to volunteer. We welcome you and are glad to have you with us. However, if at any time you would like to learn more about what it means to partner with us as a member, join us for a series of ongoing classes. For more info email us at info@rivercetral.org

What kind of church are we?

The River Church Family is a part of the Foursquare family of churches. What does “foursquare” mean? The simplest explanation can be found in the Foursquare Logo. The four symbols identified with Foursquare today are the cross, cup, dove, and crown which stand for Jesus the Savior, Jesus the Healer, Jesus the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus the Soon-Coming King, respectively. Communion

Communion is a spiritual practice with many purposes and is available to all followers of Jesus.

Celebrating the Lord's Supper (Communion) is an important time of remembering what Jesus did for us at the cross. Participating in Communion is following Jesus' instructions when he said, "Do this in remembrance of me...For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. (I Corinthians 11:24,26 NIV)

The bread and cup of grape juice themselves are only a token that we use to honor and remember His death until He comes. It is, then, a statement of faith…you proclaim the Lord’s death until He returns.

There are two communion stations in the sanctuary near the windows. Feel free to partake before or during worship on Sundays. We have corporate communion and share a communion meal with one another several times a year on Sundays as well.
